The Forgotten

We had a call tonight. Transported a women who requested transport to a hospital as she was hearing voices. The residence was uninhabitable. She was covered in insects and had to be decontaminated prior to be treated in the Hospital. Older, no family, no local support. The rig was placed out of service and a backup crew called in to cover the crew while they got sorted out and cleaned up. Aging was notified and hopefully She will get placed somewhere she will receive care and not be ignored. We are getting more calls like this. 20 YO Male hitch hiked from New Mexico and we got called into the city for transport. He was refusing to go as he had a 3 month old puppy with him and was afraid if the police took the dog he would not get him back. City officer told Him they had a kennel at the station and the dog would be there when he got out of the hospital. Deconned at the hospital before being allowed in the ER. Partner checked the backpack the kid had and he had toys, treats and food for the puppy. No food for himself. There is a level of society which has slipped out of sight. They are unseen until they suffer a mental illness episode or Medical emergency and then We are called in to sort it out. In the city they are right out in the open, in the country they disappear, in some cases leave no trace. we are seeing it more and more with no good solutions. The Social NGO's under resourced and spread way too thin can't keep up. The muninicipal agencies are no better. The Cops, Firefighters and EMS groups are a band aid and frankly not the best response but seem to be the only ones dealing with the issue. And they are not the long term solution. I don't have an answer. Wish I did. But they are out there. And it is Tragic.

Sleep Dearie Sleep

Imelda Staunton.   Pretty much didn't like her from Harry Potter.    She Redeemed Herself for the Crown.   I leave you with this.

Letters of Marque

Just wondering what the Ukraine’s position is on Letters of Marque.    Seems it could be a growth industry at the moment.

To All Stations and Ships at Sea

 Stand by for Message.

Tomorrow is one of our most Cherished Holidays.   I spent more holidays away in service either State or Federal.   I regret none of them.  They made the home time that more valuable.   For those who have the Watch,  Peace be with you.

Message ends.

Inequities

 Ezekiel 25:17

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides
By the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men
Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will
Shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness
For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children
And I will strike down upon thee
With great vengeance and furious anger
Those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers
And you will know my name is the Lord
When I lay my vengeance upon thee

Choices in Car buying.

My Dear Brother has been Car shopping.    His Choices in Sheet Metal have been decidedly Eclectic.   The 1947 Doge Power Wagon which resided in the back yard until Mom put her foot down was a beauty....   For a given definition of Beauty.     I remember driving down to New Jersey to pick up a Volvo that was held together by rust and mold and probably a target of a NJ Board of Health alert with him.    That was an adventure.    Don't know if that ever ran.   He had parts of three (3) MG's he managed to keep running somehow stashed in the one room school house next door along with an ulta light powered by a VW Air cooled engine.   As He has gotten older,  the choices have been different.   The Ford ambulance with the 7.3 Diesel engine you just could not kill for his work truck.   His  then wife couldn't stand it.   I told him to keep it just because.   She didn't like me anyway.    So he has some discretionary money he has managed to accumulate despite her best efforts.    So He got this

Ok,   cool.    Needs work but he quit smoking and had to spend his money somewhere.

So  he calls me and tells me he has sold the Buick and is looking to buy THIS Car.   1966 Chrysler New Yorker with a 440 and an immaculate interior.   I asked about the outside.    He called it Patina and said people pay big bucks for that.   I see rust and I don't pay for that.

I had to get my Tetanus booster just from looking at the picture.

So He decides the New Yorker isn't quite what he wanted,   Not enough things wrong with it I guess.  SO He finds this.

What in the Wide, Wide World of Sports is this Fresh Hell?  That my Friends, is a French Citroen.   A brace of them to be exact.    Now my tastes tends to run to European iron,   generally Swedish and German.   RIP Saab.   Italian's make Beautiful Rides but way too expensive to maintain and given my luck I would blow them up with Prejudice.   The Brits invented Bad wiring (Lucas) but designed nice rides.    I said designed,   can't keep them running without your own mech and garage.   Which leaves us the French.    I am down with the Skoda,   Hell they are part of the VW corporation and make solid cars,   except that German engineering influence thing but they are forgiven for that.   But Seriously a Citroen?    Except for RED II where they crashed one deliberately,  I have never seen a French Car outside of a movie.    And a French movie at that.    I'll take the New Yorker.    Thanks for looking

Sabine Schmitz

Took her last ride.  She was known as the Queen of the Nurburgring as a result of driving the Nurburgring  in a BMW  M5 for paying guests.   According to her estimate,  over 20,000 time.    My exposure to her was from Top Gear series 6 Episode 7 Where she almost beat Jeremy Clarkson's time Set in a Jag S type running a Ford diesel van.    Fair Winds My Dear Lady.

New revenue source

So Me and Uncle Sam were going back and forth about what they owed me.   Seems they left out Three (3) years worth of time (points for you none military types) and I had to go back through 26 years worth of orders and Drill sheets to submit for verification.   Got my first check today.   The really neat part.   15 months worth of back pay should be here in the next 60-90 days.    The mind boggles at the possibilities.

Anybody wanna go halves?

6 June 1944

I jumped Normandy 2000, 2001 and was Ground Committee in '04.   Doc Grounded me, no more jumps but when I heard they had 22 Daks and over 200 jumpers I was cursing and kickin for a bit.    What I would give to do it just one more time.   Here is a 97 YO vet who did get to do it one more time.

A Kiss is just a kiss

Except when the Japanese have just surrendered and The Tin Can you were on doesn't have to go to the Pacific.

George Mendonsa passed away.   He was the guy running down the street kissing every women and girl he could.    Alfred Eisenstaedt took the picture but wasn't able to get the names of the participants.   Greta Zimmer Friedman was identified as the Girl in the photo,  She passed in 2016.

Fair Winds and Following Seas George.   You expressed the emotions of a world in that kiss.    Typical Swabby.   ;)

IFAC

Or Individual First Aid Kit for those of you none Military type folks.    Had a chance to use two the other day.   Each kit has an Israeli Combat Dressing, Nasal Airway, Tourniquet,  Packing Gauze and some other assorted stuff.

And I got to use it on.... A Horse.

Heading down Tinker AFB for some Time with a Brother by  a Different Mother when I came up on a Accident involving a Two Horse trailer that had come unhitched from Its prime mover.  It had run off the road and buried the tongue in the dirt alongside the highway.   The results were not optimal.   One horse was killed on impact and they had a devil of a time getting the other one out of the trailer.   One gentleman who stopped got a busted hand for his efforts.   I pulled up and checked out the survivor.   He had a laceration down the right forearm from the elbow to the knee.   Ripped up pretty good.   Shocky and shivering and a couple of folks were working on getting him calmed down.   I pulled out the Israeli dressings and went to apply them to his cut.  He didn't like that much so I let him chill for a bit.  Had the one gentleman stand on his port side so he wouldn't move away from me and got down to wrapping up his leg.   He didn't fuss too much this time and I got the second one on without too much trouble.   Lady pulled up about the same time Missouri Highway Patrol got there.   Said she was a Veterinarian and asked if I had cleaned out the wound,   Told her I had been lucky just to get the bandages on without getting my ass kicked by a two thousand pound animal "Thank You very Much" and said she was more then welcome to give it a shot.   Gave my info to the
Trooper and said Adios.   Good kid.  They are getting younger each day.   Having had some horse vs Car accidents back in the day, asked Him what he was going to do about the dead one,  He told me that was for the Tow Truck Driver to worry about.  I got out of there before that illustrious gentleman got to perform that duty.    Now I have to replace the dressings,  not sure supply is going to accept my Explanation when I go in to request replacements.
